Dannie and our son Dan built most of the cake kitchen converting half of the double garage into a fabulous cake kitchen.
The next page shows my workroom and the brides room.

Mixer table

After several inquiries on how to arrange a kitchen I decided to show you my whole work kitchen with close ups of the special components build by Dannie

Above Left is the SW corner of the Cake Kitchen

Above Right is a special free standing cabinet built on rollars for easier cleaning. It was designed and built to accomadate the 20 quart mixer. The drawers underneath are storage for the Crisco, Cocoa, Oil and Pwd sugar

On the left is an extra cabinet top that just pulls out of the cabinet when you need just a little more space to stack things. The leg folds up under the shelf when it is slipped back into the cabinet

SE Corner of work kitchen

Above is the South East Corner of the Cake Kitchen

The pan storage is underneath the red and white check curtain. The curtain is in place to keep the pans cleaner and allow easy access to all the pans. Beside that cabinet there are two refrigerators and a freezer. Above those are the boxes of extra flowers, leaves and etc. that can be used on future cakes

Pan Storage Cabinet
Above is a cabinet made just for storing the nested pans. Over 100 pans stored in this space. Easy to reach, easy to find the pan needed and easy to nest then again and just pull the curtain over them until they are needed again.

NE Corner of Cake Kitchen
This is the NE corner of the Cake Kitchen. In the corner is a metal shelf that stores the boxes of cake mixes for future use. Next to that is the cooling rack cabinet and then the oven cabinet.

My dad was a builder so I grew up with blueprints. I wasn't allowed to touch the tools but I could study the blueprints and how things were laid out all I wanted to. I learned from those blueprints how to measure, plan, diagram and put it on paper. So I drew how I wanted this kitchen laid out plus the special components I would like to have. But, Dannie and Dan had the building knowledge to construct my kitchen.

Oven & Under cabinet
I love this DeLuxe Oven. It is Model CR-2-4 and is an 8300 Watts unit.
Four shelves with an electric heating element below and above each shelf.

It will bake 4 full sheet pans or the equivalent of what 3 - 4 regular ovens will hold.

Check out their web site or for more information on these ovens call 1-800-367-8931. They have several sizes available.

Below the oven is the cabinet built just for the DeLuxe Oven to sit on. I bought this oven at the Florida show in August of 1997and as soon as we got home Dannie built this cabinet. We use this storage for extra large pans, turntables, fountain apparatus and extra containers that we use for storing icing and etc..

Cooling rack and cake storage

To the left of the oven is the cooling rack cabinet. The cooling racks slide easily into this special cabinet. Heavy duty plastic is mounted on the front and is rolled down when the cakes are cool and stored until the next day.

Rolling Drawers Cabinet

All the of the bottom large storage units are drawers on wheels for easy access and cleaning.

NW Corner of Work Kitchen

When we began planning out the work kitchen Dannie made the statement "Honey, if you can draw it I can build it." Well, that little statement has made him cross his eyes and mutter under his breath a few times. But he has learned I do have things thought through and planned before they go on paper. I think he has done an exceedingly good job in fulfilling the needs in my cake kitchen.

As you can see Dannie is mighty "handy" to have around here.
